Noise affecting physical and mental wellbeing

A study has recently showed that noise has a major impact on our wellbeing.

Not only are we affected by noise at work or when we go out to bars, all the noises in our surrounding have an impact on how we feel.

Scraping sounds of chairs, people talking, telephones ringing and the radio in the background -noise is constantly affecting us.

Hörselskadades Riksförbund (HRF), the largest Swedish organization for hearing impaired, shows that it is not only in traditional noisy workspaces such as in building sites and factories that noice have a negative effect on our hearing.

According to the results of the study, 57% are disturbed by the noise in the office. Among teachers, 67% considered the noise so disturbing, that they found it difficult to focus at work. The sound level in schools is often around 65-78 decibels.

Even when we are not at work, we are still bombarded with noise. 51 % of those asked said that they had trouble hearing what was said in cafes, even if 93 % found it important with a good, sound acoustic.

In Australia, the situation is the same and ways to prevent the ongoing hearing loss among people includes i.e. implementing better environmental policies. There is a need for developed legislation and more focuhearing_03s on the problem in the country, and more studies in this area could be necessary, according to Australian Hearing.
