The Department of Human Services has in a recent report found shared that normal social activities such as seeing live music or going out is putting their hearing at huge risk.
7 in 10 people are not aware that gigging and clubbing is affecting their hearing, and only one in five thought they were going to suffer from permanent hearing losses.
The Binge Listening Report, by National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL), the research body of Australian Hearing states that music played at more than 94 decibel can cause damage, in only an hour. An increase to 100 decibel, can compromise the hearing in only 15 minutes. Going to gigs several times per week can increase potential hearing damage significantly.
